portrait of the artist as a poet
the poet.

i am a political poet writing in the slam/hip hop tradition about racism and privilege, sexism and queerness, geographic location and american imperialism, capitalism, poverty, and other institutionalized -isms. sometimes i write about love, lonlieness, and the mundane.

i was born and raised in upstate new york (rochester/buffalo area). my childhood was built in white suburbs with soccer tournaments on the weekends. i went to a 90% white public high school and went to the university of buffalo for a b.a. in women's studies.

i have performed for all kinds of crowds in places ranging from bars in rochester to activist centers in poland. recently, i collaborated with inga muscio (author of Cunt and the forthcoming Autobiography of a Blue Eyed Devil) on an anti-racist resource guide. i am also working on completing a 'zine project with 15 writers called Open Dyke and Tranny Mic: Honest Conversations about Race.

i can be seen at The Bowery Poetry Cafe on third sundays at 9 pm.
